In this second part we continue the transformation from Divx to VCD .
tab ” Quantize matrix “let the default (preset), and check that they are barred boxes” Use floating point …. “and” No motion search … “, as shown in the picture below. The Audio screen is used to define the characteristics of the sound of the movie, especially the audio compression. here is talk of the sampling frequency, the number of audio channels to be used and the space occupied by a second of audio (bitrate). Set the options and values as shown in the figure.
Finally, the System tab you just have to make sure it is set to the ” MPEG-1 Video-CD “. You can use this in the box below (Comment insert setting) to add a comment to MPEG files; information then viewable by accessing the properties of the file. When you have finished setting all the options, click “OK” to return to the main screen of TMPGEnc.
Now select the item Option / Preview option / Do not display. Thus do not see the preview of the movie images as they are recoded, saving time and resources throughout the entire process.
We are ready to start the process of converting files from DivX to MPEG 1 . Just press the start button. This can take several hours (in our case a couple of hours, but do not be surprised if the process takes half a day!) Depending on the features set and especially to those of your PC.
You can control how long it thanks to the voice ” Remaining time “, which appears below the progress bar, which, in percentage terms, to what extent is work. At the end of the encoding process, check the size of the resulting file. You will find that are significantly higher than the AVI file to start. Let’s take an example. In our case an AVI movie of 707 Mb produced an MPEG file of over one Gigabyte (namely 1022 Mb). It goes without saying that a file so big it can not be burned to a CD-ROM from virgin 700 Mb, then it should be divided into two parts, as if it were a film in two stages. To make the division, you can use the same TMPGEnc. Go to File / MPEG Tools.
In the window that appears, open the tab “Merge & Cut” (almost “cut and paste” …).
First of all in the “Type” (type) set the ” MPEG-1 Video-CD “. Then press the Add button (Add) to tell the program what is the MPEG files to break in two. Once the name of the movie appeared in the center of the window, select it and click on “Edit”. In the Edit window must indicate at what point break the film. It starts indicating the limits of the first piece, which is equivalent to the first half of the movie. It starts of course from the first frame, and then from 00: 00.00. For indicate where is the point which corresponds to half, long enough to see the film How long (in our case an hour and forty minutes) and indicate a minutaggio intermediate: for example 50: 00.00.
Just indicated the latter value, in the central part of the screen appears the frame that corresponds to that point of the film so you can change this setting if you realize, for example, that this is the crucial moment of a scene d ‘ action. Click “OK” to return to the “Merge & Cut”.
Now that you have established the limits of the first piece of the film, it is necessary to name the first file. This must be inserted in the “Output”. An example may be “Prova1T.mpg” where “1T” stands for the first half. At this point you just have to start the process of division of the film, by clicking the Run button. The process of copying the “first time”, described and monitored through the window “Outputting”, do not take long; minutes with a fairly powerful system. It can be stopped at any time thanks to the Abort button.
After the copy of the first piece, one must focus on the rest of the film and create the file in the second half. Come back in the dialog “Edit”, and this time in the range must be entered as the first value the point where we had decided to stop the first time (in our example, 50: 00.00) and the second value as the end of the film (1:40 : 5:00 or, alternatively, “Last”). Press “OK” to return to the previous screen where, as seen in step 13, it is necessary to name the second section (eg “Prova2T.mpg”) and restart the conversion process through the Run button. Also finished this process, you will have now two files with the extension “.mpg”, ready to become two VCD.
At this point it is necessary to rely on the burning software Ahead Nero here a little guide : we describe the procedure for burning VCD in the relevant box.
