Xecutor is software that is responsible for planning the implementation of programs and operations.
Basically it works like the Windows scheduler, but allows you to schedule tasks at any time and with some additional option. If, for example, you want to download e-mail every day at 17:00, or more simply use the PC as an alarm clock by starting a song at a certain hour, we think Xecutor. In this article we will see how to install it and use it.
Go to the page english.xpertdesign.de and navigate to the Download section. Scroll the page down until you find the setup file XecutorSetup.exe, download. When you’re done, start it with a double click.
Unfortunately, the program is only available in English, German and Spanish. After installation, the first time, Xecutor ask your preferred language: Inglese selected. Then, before entering the program itself, some windows will open in sequence. The first is a simple reminder about the conditions of the license, close the window by clicking on OK. The second asks instead if you want Xecutor start automatically every time you turn on your computer. Given the nature of the program, we recommend you select Yes
This will open a third window that asks if you want to import into Xecutor programs already included in the execution of Windows and in the section of the registry that performs the same function.
By choosing to manage these programs through Xecutor, will delete the corresponding entries in the Windows startup. If you want to fully control the automatic execution of programs, select the Autostart folder and windows registry; but if you want to keep separate Xecutor and the Windows Startup, select Cancel.
The main screen of Xecutor summarizes all the functions. The three tabs at the top Startup Shutdow Scheduler and summarize the three moments in which you can schedule events. The icons at the top are intuitively associated with the most important operations: adding an event cancellation of an event and event priority.
To schedule any event, simply select the tab for the time you need and press the + green top. In our example, we will see how to program an event at a certain time on a PC already on. Then select the Scheduler tab and the green + button at the top.
The screen will open the Properties window, composed of three tabs General, Conditions and Messages. General serves to identify the operation to perform, Conditions defines when the operation should be performed, while Messages is optional and allows you to display a message before executing the operation.
On the General tab , click the folder icon to the right of the Filename field , enter the path to the file / program to run. In this field, you must enter the path to the executable of a program (usually a file with . ” Exe” ) or any other file supported in Windows environment. In our example, we will program the execution of a program for email (Thunderbird ) at 17:00. In the Filename field will denote then the path to the executable file of Thunderbird : “C : \ Program Files \ Mozilla Thunderbird \ thunderbird.exe .” The other parameters in the General tab are optional. The most important is , however, “After execution do ” .
Through this drop-down menu , you can tell the computer what to do after running the programma.Lasciate “Nothing” if you want the computer activity continues on a regular basis , “Shutdown” if you want for it to go , “Reboot” if you want to restart and ” Log off ” to disconnect the user. Under ” Conditions” must indicate the time at which the operation will be performed. The Time field is the most important . Select “Fixed time” ( now fixed ), as described later time , if you want the task to run at a certain time ; or ” Interval” (interval) , if you want the task to be done after a certain interval (eg every hour). In our case , we will indicate “Fixed time” and ” 17:00 ” . The fields ” Day of week ” are used instead to indicate which days of the week must be done : in our case we will leave them all ticked.
At this point, press “OK” at the bottom. the rest think Xecutor . The tabs “Startup ” and ” Shutdown” work in a very similar way . simply, in the ” Conditions” , instead of the time in which to run the program, you can specify a time zone , thanks to the conditions “Before” ( Only before) or “after ” ( Only after) . In this way the computer will perform the operation only at startup / shutdown , and only if the startup / shutdown will occur before or after the time indicated .
Another useful function is off Xecutor automatic system , which is managed by the window Preferences.Per access it, click on the icon with the two red marks (third from right on the top bar ), or selected in the command bar “Program / Configuration ” . The tab ” Automatic shutdown” menu Preferences allows you to shut down your PC at a certain time , or when the system goes into “idle “, or ceases each task in the sense stretto.Per configure this feature , select ” Fixed time ” ( now fixed) or “System idle” in the Mode menu . “Fixed time” works like a similar option in the Conditions . “System idle” (see box ) also allows add an off condition , so that the computer off at a certain time if not running programmi.Per set this function correctly you need to indicate a percentage of CPU usage (better indicate a low value, around 5% ) and a time interval (for example, 5 minutes) . so doing , the PC will turn off at the specified time only if the CPU usage has remained below 5% for at least five minutes. Xecutor is able to manage the planning of dozens of actions , simply repeating the procedures described here .
The System Idle Process is a PC that allows you to evaluate the percentage of processor usage. It is a reliable index rather than active programs are ” squeezing ” the computer . Can also be used to see if a PC is doing something or is, in fact , unused. A heavy program , for example a video game , can use up to 100% of the power of computer , while programs intended to be always in function , such as antivirus , arriving only a few points percentages or even run entirely in ” Background” , without affecting in any way out of this value. For control the percentage of use of your processor , go to the Task Manager by pressing the CTRL + ALT + DEL and select the Performance tab. You’ll notice the green scale ” CPU Usage ” . If your PC is not performing steps, try not to touch any keys or the mouse: the percentage drop to 0 . Also try only to move the mouse: you will see it go up. The option Xecutor System idle explained in paragraph 12 is based precisely this value.
