How to keep your Computer update

If you want your computer to be fast and efficient as if it were new, I do not say that you have to avoid putting the least possible number of programs, as suggested in several articles, but to keep it  clean and free of viruses .

When I talk about cleaning the computer I intend to perform common operations of removal of unnecessary files  that accumulate regularly in repair of conflicting entries in the system registry and defrag the files. With the help of diagnostic software you are able to intervene in all these actions without requiring the intervention of a specialist.

Regarding the speech viruses, it is necessary to perform regular scans with an excellent antivirus and to block access to the computer through the use of a powerful firewall able to recognize a large number of infections.

One aspect not taken into account, though important and decisive, concerns the updating of the operating system and programs installed.

Each  driver must be constantly updated , we must not leave absolutely no active older version on your computer, as this could create problems of  instability  during the normal operation of Windows.

One method that I suggest to check the versions of the drivers and devices are the most recent is to install a  driver update checker that can identify the active versions and replace them with the latest releases. So you need not waste time in ‘exhausting research at the sites of the manufacturers.

Even for Windows is recommended that you install all updates sent by Microsoft, because they are the bug fixes, critical errors and anomalies.

Now let’s see how to keep your Windows operating system to date.

If you feel that you’ve been a little behind in terms of updates, you can check it yourself by using these simple steps. The following procedure has been applied in Windows XP, but can also be extended to Windows Vista, and Windows7. To get started, simply click  Start , enter the control panel and then press the icon automatic updates .

You open a window on which you can configure how to manage Windows updates:

  • automatic updates,
  • download updates but not install them,
  • just download and install them without warning,
  • complete deactivation.

Personally, I follow the advice of Microsoft, which is set Automatic . To check the status of the updates for your computer, click the item  Install updates from the Windows Repair your computerUpdate Web site .

You are logged in the Windows Update page, where you can download all the official updates for Windows operating systems. Remember to use  Internet Explorer  to view this page properly and use all the services included. You are offered two ways:

Quick  to download high-priority updates; Custom  allows you to select which updates to install, depending on individual needs.

Pressing the button  Quick  start automatically scan the entire operating system, from which once completed you will be informed if you need to download any patches or updates.

This is all you need to do to have a fast computer and error free. If you carefully follow these simple tips, your computer will not cause all those common hindrance, as  the slow start , the sudden crashes and annoying delays in the opening of applications.
