What is the difference between static IP address, dynamic, public and private?

You’ve probably already heard about the IP address then you will know that, to surf the Internet, each device must be uniquely identified mediated a special number, usually 12 digits. But of IP addresses, there are different types, so here in this article I will explain what is the difference between static IP address, dynamic, public and private.

When you connect to the Internet with a modem, routers, smartphones, tablets, game consoles, keys, smart TV, etc., you get permission to navigate through the subscription LTE or WiMAX, offered by your ISP (which may be, for example, Telecom, Free, but also Wind Fastweb, TIM, Vodafone or Three). At the request of the connection you will automatically be assigned an IP address that is at the same time, both dynamically and public: dynamic because, except for emergencies, being the limited number of IP addresses, this is chosen (among available addresses of your ISP) assigned and changed automatically for each new connection; but this is also a dynamic public IP address, because (just as written on Wikipedia) is allocated unambiguously and potentially accessible from any other public IP address that allows both to uniquely identify the device on the network is to provide the path to be achieved.
In contrast, a static IP address is always a public IP address, but paying a little more than a dynamic IP address (since the IP addresses are limited), the static is assigned each time (ISP free virtual desktop programpermitting) to the same device that has the need to remain always with that address (as occurs, for example, in the case of the server). It must be said, however, that the purpose of the speed of your Internet connection to have a static or dynamic IP address is not important but it’s more a choice dictated by specific requirements such as, for example, have a need that your computer is always accessible from the ‘external (but, sometimes, it can lead to more problems than benefits).
While to know your public IP address just visit, for example, this site, on the other hand to know your private IP address does not need to do more than “ask” to your modem / router or your operating system (so, for example, Windows, Linux, Mac OS, Android, iOS or Windows Phone). The private IP address, has the same shape as the public, but, contrary to the public, is used to identify your device in the same place. In other words, because at home, in an office or university, as there is usually only one computer to be able to identify each of these devices within the same place, each of these in turn must be equipped with a private IP address.

For example, a house, a computer can have a private IP address 192.168.1.101 on the type, the network printer can be 192.168.1.110, 192.168.1.105 as an iPhone, the single public IP address (static or dynamic), required to surf the Internet, is only ever assigned to the modem / router (which usually has the private IP address 192.168.1.1). It must be said that the choice of this private IP address can be done either automatically (by the modem / router via DHCP) or manually (especially to avoid problems or conflicts of private IP addresses) via the TCP / IP operating system.
