How to view hidden files on Windows


By default, Windows does not allow you to display hidden files via Windows Explorer and My Computer.       2. Click on Show Hidden Files or Folders

  2. Uncheck Hide file extensions for known file types 
  3. Remove lai check from  Hide protected operating system files
  4. Press the  Apply  button and then  OK . Now your computer is configured to show all hidden files

  3. The Control Panel traditional Windows 8 is now open, click on the linkAppearance and Personalization
  4. In the category Folder Options, click Show hidden files or folders
  5. In the category  Folder Options , click  Show hidden ile or folder
  6. Under Hidden files and folders, select the button  Show hidden files, folders or drives
  7. Uncheck Hide file extensions for known file types 
  8. Remove lai check from  Hide protected operating system files
  9. Press the  Apply  button and then  OK . Now your computer is configured to show all hidden files

You’ll notice that scattered throughout the computer will be the file desktop.ini , it is a file system so it can be ignored.
