How to know the date of installation of Windows


If we want to know when you installed Windows on the computer , we can use the command prompt and the command systeminfo. The command systeminfo is used to know the configuration of Microsoft operating systems and is able to recover the system log information to know the date of installation of Windows .

The procedure to know the date of Windows installation can be performed on all computers running Windows 8 / 8.1, Windows 7, Vista and Windows XP.

To know when you installed Windows on the computer press the keys on the computer keyboard Windows (is the key with the Windows logo) and R simultaneously.
This opens the Run . irtual Desktop Manager
In the Open: we type cmd , and we click on OK .
( If you open the window UAC we click on Continue ).
This will open the Command Prompt .
We type systeminfo , we press Enter on the keyboard of the computer and wait for the loading of information.
In the list of displayed information we seek the voice Date of original installation:
The date and time displayed will indicate when Windows was installed on your computer.

If we want to use the systeminfo command to display only information such as the date of installation of Windows we type systeminfo | find “Date of original installation:”
We press the button Enter on the keyboard of the computer and wait for the loading of information.

Where is recorded the date of installation of Windows?

The command systeminfo search and displays in a readily understandable format the date and time of installation of Windows. But where this information is stored that lets you know when you installed Windows on your computer? The date and time of installation of Windows are registered in value Unix Time in the registry , the database that stores configuration settings of Microsoft operating systems.
To read this value we have to start the system log and look for the key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows NT \ CurrentVersion

Let InstallDate and we take note of the number indicated between parentheses:
InstallDate REG_DWORD 0x53577498 ( 1385856000 )

Now we need to convert this number into a readable format using a converter Unix Time / Date and time.
onlineconversion.com , we type the number in the UNIX TimeStamp: and we click on Submit .
The value Unix: 1385856000 will be the date Sunday, 05 April 2015 00:00:00 GMT , date of installation of Windows on your computer.
